Soz seeks permanent ILS at Srinagar Airport | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 12: President Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saifuddin Soz took up the matter of proper calibration of Instrumental Landing System (ILS) at Srinagar Airport with the Director General Airport Authority of India today. He urged the Airport Authority of India to install the system not on experimental basis but on permanent basis so that the flights can land in low visibility also. The regular calibration of ILS will also ensure landing of evening flights also. Prof Soz has already taken up the matter with the Minister of Civil Aviation that flights should be allowed to land in the late evening also. Prof Soz has emphasized that in the absence of a rail link between Udhampur and Srinagar and the road getting often blocked during rainy season, the air service from Delhi and elsewhere to Srinagar is of crucial importance. In the meantime, Prof Soz thanked Defence Minister A.K Antony and Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, for their support to the facility of providing ILS to Srinagar Airport. Antony recently wrote to Prof Soz that there won’t be any objection to the calibration of ILS at Srinagar Airport from Army.
