EC for strict adherence to upgradation norms for schools | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 12: Estimates Committee (EC) of Legislative Assembly has stressed for trict adherence to the norms and criteria fixed for upgradation of the schools to the next level to ensure that all the districts get the benefits of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) schemes. The Committee which met here today under the chairmanship of MLA, Harsh Dev Singh discussed various issues. These included total number of school buildings sanctioned under SSA during 2008-09, 2009-2010 and progress achieved, present status of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhayalaya (KGBV) scheme in the State, teachers posted in the schools under RET Scheme, schools opened under RMSA during 2008-09, 2009-2010 and creation of staff for newly upgraded schools during last four years. The meeting was informed that a proposal for creation of posts for upgraded schools was submitted to the government for approval. The Committee asked the officers to furnish a detailed list of proposal made for creation of the posts to the committee. The meeting was informed that KGVB was launched in the State during 2004. As many 79 KGVBs have been sanctioned for Jammu and Kashmir, which include 35 of Model-I and 44 of Model-II, the meeting said adding that out of these 11 have been completed and the work on 59 buildings is in progress, while work on the left over 9 Vidhayalaya would be taken up soon.
