| Manohar pays homage to killed forest guard | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kathua Jan 12: Minister of State for Cooperatives, Finance and Planning Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today paid homage to Late Forest Guard Sham Singh who was killed by timber smugglers on December 27, 2006 at a function at village Dhood of Tehsil Hiranagar.
As per press release, on the occasion, Minister said that people like Sham Singh are role model for all of us as he showed his commitment and devotion towards his duty. Dr Sharma further said a tribute to this noble soul will be to follow his footsteps by building good character and to remain committed towards our duty.
He appealed to the officers of all the departments to participate in such programmes to take inspiration. Dr Manohar Lal Sharma also interacted with the people of the area and listen to their problems. Representative of the area apprised the minister about their problem related to safe drinking water, electricity, pending NEREGA payments, development of old ponds and up gradation of schools. Responding to the demands the minister assured the people that their demands will be addressed on priority basis.
Dr Sharma asked the officers to install 200 crates in the area under NERAGA. He passed instructions to develop the ponds and area around them. Dr Sharma also directed the officers to make a list of people falling under BPL who are deprived of their own Pacca House so that benefit of Indira Awaas Youjna be given to them.
Among others who were present on the occasion Tehsildar Hiranagar, SHO Hiranagar and other District and Tehsil level officers were also present during the function.
