HM module busted, 4 held with fake IC notes at Janipura

JAMMU, Jan 12: Hizbul Mujahideen's efforts to revive the outfit in Jammu and Kashmir and make fresh recruitments suffered a major blow when police Tuesday arrested its four operatives, including two ultras, at Janipura, and busted a module involved in the supply of fake Indian currency notes to militancy infested parts of the state.
A total of 1.5 lakh fake IC notes were recovered from them. The notes were in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, police sources said and added that their printing quality was very fine.The four HM men, including two militants, were last evening apprehended by Janipura police station SHO, Sub-Inspector Jai Pal Sharma from the ever-busy court road while they were heading towards their hideout carved out in the house of one of them.
Sources identified them as Shoukat Mohiudin Kuchey, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Kuchey of Kadar, Kulgam, Sahil Mubarak Butt, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Butt of Shalipura, Kulgam, Zakir Hussain, son of Izhaar Hussain, and Shahid, son of Shariful, both residents of Kaliachak in Malda, West Bengal.
Shoukat, a surrendered militant, lived in a house on the court road. He had become active again and his house was allegedly being used as a hideout, the sources added.
Sahil too was alleged to be a militant. Sources said HM identity cards and letter pads were also recovered from their possession.Shoukat, his wife and children had last year jumped in front of chief minister Omar Abdullah's cavalcade inside the civil secretariate, demanding financial aid or a job for him as he had no work to do since 1996 when he had surrendered before police at Darhal in Rajouri. uring their interrogation, police came to know that they had already sent Rs 12 lakh of fake IC notes to the valley. "This money is to be used to make fresh recruitments and revive the outfit," sources said.
The money was printed in Pakistan and then sent to Bangladesh. From Bangladesh, couriers, suspected to be militants, smuggled it into Malda village of West Bengal.
Sources said from Malda, the money was clandestinely brought by Zakir and Shahid to Jammu for its further supply to HM commanders in Kashmir and the militancy infested parts of Jammu region. Their sustained interrogation was on. case under section 489-A, B&C, 13 ULA was registered against them at the Janipura police station.
