| Regional Institute of paramedical sciences to come up in J&K: Chib | | | Early Times Report HYDERABAD, Jan 13: Highlighting need for opening more medical colleges in the State, Minister for Medical Education, R. S. Chib reiterated that key to effective health care delivery requires well qualified and skilled professionals, which can only be achieved by raising standard of medical education. Minister was speaking at conference of state health and medical education ministers and secretaries here today. Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma also attended the meeting, which was chaired by Union Minister for Health, Ghulam Nabi Azad. Chib while highlighting significance of establishing super specialty hospitals and their early completion, expressed happiness over J&K being identified for setting up of Regional Institute of Para-medical Sciences. Chib has asked central government to provide necessary financial assistance for infrastructure development and capacity building to improve the health care scenario of the state. Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad asked states to gear up for development of necessary infrastructure to accommodate more seats in Medical Colleges assuring full support of the Centre for the same. Union Minister has assured that sufficient funds will be released to J&K for the development of nursing services and implementing the programme for control of blindness. Health Minister, Sham Lal Sharma while highlighting various issues pertaining to health, spoke about the vector borne disease control programme of the State and urged the centre to release the funds to deal with the issue. With regard to J&K, the meeting also discussed issues related to development of nursing services in the State, control of blindness programme, introduction of bachelor of rural health services, setting up of ANM/GNM schools, common entrance test for MBBS and improvement in effective implementation of national programmes for prevention of diseases in the State.
