1/13/2011 9:07:31 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu Jan.13: The rising prices have become a major issue before the common man as the prices of most of the essential commodities have touched the sky in recent past. Despite the claims by the government that the steps are being taken to rein in on the price rise, but all the measures seems to have been on paper only as there has been no major effect in the prices of common commodities of use.
It seems that central government is just befooling common people on the name taking measures to slow down the prices.
In Jammu and Kashmir, prices of essential commodities are touching sky which is creating difficulty for a common man to bear the prices. The rise in prices of essential commodities has created a worse economic situation in the state.
It is not only a threat but a challenge to the stability of the society as a whole. The argument is advanced that rising prices are-a necessary feature of a developing economy.
“One can understand fluctuation of prices of certain commodities but the peculiar feature is that they have gone up uniformly in all spheres that are essential to bare human existence”, said a local resident Naresh Kumar. Several times people of Jammu and Kashmir protested against the growing price rise and inability of the central government to control price rise but all in vain as the government is just having a single answer “We are working on this and soon this problem will be sort out”, said a housewife, Sandipa Sharma. .
It is pertinent to mention here that price of onion in Jammu and Kashmir rises from Rs 40 to Rs 45 per kilogram where the price of tomato is Rs 35 to Rs 40 per kilogram, which a common man can not purchase easily.
Kamal Singh, a private employer, he said that during the past one year the Centre had taken several anti-poor decisions as a result of which the prices of essential commodities had gone up. It had become difficult for our families to manage two times meals a day as the prices of essential commodities are increasing day by day.
