EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 13: PANUN Kashmir today alleged that attempts are being made to mislead the public opinion about the issues of displacement and resettlement of the Kashmiri Hindu community in the Kashmir valley.
Addressing a press conference, president PK Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said that in the recent case is an example were a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of India by state government that Kashmiri Pandits are not interested in resettlement in the Kashmir valley.
He alleged that Pandits who are the victims of militancy have right from very inception for the resettlement but their aspirations should be taken into consideration.
In this connection, PK said that a number of resolution and charter were passed in various conference of Kashmiri Pandits during the period of exile, expressing their firm resolve to return to their homeland and resettle there.
“The convention of 1990, Margdarshan conference of 1991 and the Kashmiri Pandit Representative Assembly of 2000 unanimously asked for geo –political dispensation for community in the form of a separate homeland in the valley of Kashmir”, Chrungoo said. He said that this alone will meet the aspiration of the seven lakh Kashmiri Hindus.
The resettlement of KPs is a serious issue and it cannot be trivialized as an administrative exercise. “The issue of resettlement has to be seen in the context of the historical perspective that the current exodus is the seventh one and any resettlement of the community in the valley has to ensure that there are no chances of any refoulment in future”, he said.
Panun Kashmir has expressed its dismay over the fact that the Prime Minister’s package announced four years ago for the community has not been implemented.
Chrungoo has announced that, as a constituent of the joint forum of KP organization, would be observing ‘Holocaust Day’ along with its other constituents on January, 19.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, Prof.M.L Raina and Virender Raina.
