1/13/2011 11:17:48 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 13: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Malik Muhammad Yasin has called for Lal Chowk Chalo on January 26 to counter Bhartaya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing Yuva Morcha's flag hoisting at the city centre. The Mirwaiz Hurriyat has supported the JKLF programme.
Malik urged the people to make it to Lal Chowk on January 26 to show to the world as to whose flag flies high at the historic place. "Jammu Kashmir is nobody's property. It belongs to the people of the state. I urge them to march peacefully towards Lal Chowk on January 26 to convey an appropriate message to appropriate quarters", he said.
Accusing BJP of nurturing double standards, Malik said when this party was in power, its leaders knocked at our doors and begged for a dialogue for Kashmir resolution. "Now when they are out of power they have indulged in politicking to deceive the gullible voter in India", he said. Yasin lashed out at BJP President for his Kolkata speech dispute. And now the same party is behaving like a hawk", the meeting held.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister while addressing passing out parade at Police Training School at Sheeri Baramulla urged the BJP to abandon the Eakta Yatra. "BJP is an opportunistic party and intends to use the Tricolor for securing its vote bank", he said.
Omar said the situation in Kashmir had taken a favourable turn but it was not yet fully under control. An act of provocation like the hoisting of flag by BJP workers will prove disastrous", he made clear.
He said a strategy shall be chalked out soon to deal with the problem. A local news agency quoting official sources said that the government had decided to prevent BJP workers from entering Srinagar on January 26. "Security has been beefed up in Srinagar and along the Srinagar-Jammu highway to deal with any eventuality", the sources told the agency.
