Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 14: Stating that revenue realization has significant importance in stabilizing the sate's economic foundation, Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather today called for an intensified revenue collection campaign against the electricity consumed by the consumers
Interacting with the senior functionaries of the PDD, after inspecting main power Grid Station, Gladini, Jammu this afternoon, Minister urged for accelerated efforts to achieve the targets through persuasion. Rather said that the entire Power Billing System in the state would be computerized by ending March this fiscal. This would help to check pilferage of power and revenue and also save precious time of consumers by reducing their interface with the field officers.
Rather urged for a vigorous recovery drive against defaulting Government Departments also adding that about Rs.531 crore are outstanding against various departments on account of power bills in Jammu Division out of which only Rs.58.67 crore have been recovered up to November this fiscal.
"Same is the situation in Kashmir where whopping sums are outstanding with various Government Departments on account of power bills. This is certainly a cause of concern for which we need to put our heads together so that burgeoning power bill outstanding is contained and recoveries effected," Rather asserted. He said the Government would explore all possibilities to recover outstanding Power Bills against various Government Departments at source.
