| 1 killed, 4 hurt as side wall of old bridge caves in near Akhnoor | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 14: A labourer was killed and four others, including two women, were wounded critically after the side wall an old bridge caved in on them at Daksal in Akhnoor.
Police sources said the work on a bridge on the Akhnoor-Rajouri link road was under progress at Daksal near Akhnoor under the GREF supervision. The old bridge also existed nearby. Sources said while the labourers worked on its side wall for the new bridge expansion, it caved in on them, resulting in the instant death of a labourer and serious injuries to four others. The dead was identified as Kunj Ram of Chhatisgarh and the injured as Sunita, Bhaveshwari, Shadi Lal and Ram Chand. The injured were later evacuated to hospital by police with the help of other labourers and GREF employees. Police had registered a case in this connection. |
