Dr Jitendra quits job, likely to be BJP's chief spokesperson | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 14: Dr Jitendra Singh, renowned Diabetologist and author, who was recently nominated as National Executive Member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by the party National President Nitin Gadkari, today formally put in his papers to quit the post of Professor in Government Medical College Jammu. Jitendra Singh took this decision in response to a written communication to him from the BJP high command in Delhi requesting him to relinquish his government job so that he could be officially entrusted with organizational responsibilities of the party at national and state level. When contacted, Singh confirmed his relinquishing of the office but said he would continue his clinical practice and always be available to his patients for consultation. Though the organizational responsibilities which Jitender Singh would be bestowed upon are not official as yet, but in all likelihood he would be roped in as state's chief spokesman besides having entrusted him with a national executive membership. State BJP is holding its Working Committee tomorrow wherein the situation would emerge clear. Meanwhile, the BJP sources had all praise for Jitendra Singh, who they said, had set a rare example for others by quitting a lucrative government job for a less profitable profession only in response to call of service for nationalist and patriotic ideals. It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Jitendra Singh as a spokesperson of Shri Amaranth Yara Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) played a key role during the two month long land agitation in 2008. Jitendra Singh at that time was also tipped to be fielded from the Doda-Udhampur parliamentary constituency.
