Manik, Pardeep guide Stadium (Sr) XI Jammu to final

KATHUA, January 14: Sailing on superb performance from young spinner, Manik Gupta and senior batsman, Pardeep Bali, the star studded side of Stadium (Sr) XI Jammu today made it to the final of DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament underway at Sports Stadium, here.
While Manik restricted opponent, Mohammadan Sporting Jammu to 139 for nine taking away five wickets, Pardeep Bali hit his third consecutive fifty to help Stadium XI reached the target in just 18.2 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Earlier, Mohammandan Sporting won the toss and decided to bat first. The side was rightly moving towards a challenging total with 80 for one, but five wickets haul by Manik Gupta for just 10 runs in four overs, restricted Mohammandan Sporting to a moderate total of 139.
Naresh was top scorer with 33-ball 41 runs, inclusive of two sixes and three boundaries. Jimmy contributed 31 runs. From Stadium XI, besides Manik’s five-wickets, Raman also bowled well and took two wickets for 14 runs.
Later, chasing the target, Stadium XI attained the goal making 143 runs in 18.2 overs for the loss of three wickets. Pardeep Bali hit his third consecutive fifty making 31-ball 51 runs with the help of eight fours and two sixes. Munish added valuable 27 runs. From Mohammadan Sporting, Naresh and Ishmeet took one wicket each.
For his match winning innings of five wickets, Manik was declared man of the match. He was given away Rs 2100 cash prize by president Industrial Units Association, Ajit Baba. Pardeep was also presented a special gift for the fifty by Raju Silk and Sari centre.
