| Mehra, Khan mesmerize at SaMaPa Aalap | | |

JAMMU, Jan 15: 6th day of the ongoing 5th Annual ‘SaMaPa Aalap Festival 2011’ witnessed mesmerizing recital by Kailash Mehra Sadhu and Ustad Danish Aslam Khan at Gandhi Memorial College (GMC) at Bantalab in Raipur area of Jammu region.
President of Hindu Education Society (HES) Anil Dhar was chief guest on the occasion. He felicitated the performing artists with bouquets. He thanked SaMaPa for organising the concert on regular basis in the college and praised Abhay for bringing musical revolution in the State of J&K.
Santoor Maestro and Composer Abhay Rustum Sopori was present on the occasion and spoke about need of having such functions on regular basis. He said that music of each place has its own identity giving the people of that area an identification which is their art and culture.
The session commenced with an analytical and lecture demonstration by the eminent vocalist of J&K Kailash Mehra. She presented classical, semi classical, light classical, Kashmiri, Dogri, Gujri and various other styles of singing demonstrating the intricacies of vocal system.
She presented various compositions of her Gurus, the ‘Father of Music in J&K’ Pandit Shamboo Nath Sopori ji and Music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori. The festival will feature Santoor recital by Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Abhay Rustum Sopori on January 15 at 5 pm at Police Headquarters Auditorium
