`NC Govt legalized corruption’ | Omar regime has failed to learn from past mistakes: Veeri | | Early Times Report Jammu, January 14: Former Minister and Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Abdul Rehman Veeri today said that coalition regime headed by National Conference had failed to come up to the expectation of the people. He said instead of addressing problems of the masses this regime has been brazenly trying to befool the people. Addressing political activists of Poonch and Rajouri who joined PDP under the leadership of Idres Ahmed Tabassum, Veeri termed the present regime as total failure and observed that the State had been plunged into unprecedented crises due to mis-governance of Omar Abdullah. “Except promises nothing concrete has been done by this government during the last two years”, Veeri said and remarked that this government exists only on papers because the Ministers were more particular about issuing press statements and conducting photo sessions to befool the people rather than taking effective steps on ground. He said that only noticeable achievement of this regime was that this government has brought back the dark era which the people of this State had witnessed from1996 to 2002. Veeri mentioned that the situation has returned back to pre-2002 situation because this government has failed to identify itself with the people of the State. He regretted that the National Conference has not learnt any lesson from past. “This government has been repeating the same mistakes which were committed by the NC led regime from 1996 to 2002”, he said. While making a mention of rampant corruption in the administration, beginning of the backdoor appointments in the government departments, he said , “Anger of the people has been increasing due to the wrong policies of the present government”, he said. He warned that mis-governance of NC led regime would further fuel alienation among the people because common masses, braving all odds, had expressed faith in the democratic process with a hope that the democratic elected government would solve their day today problems. “It is unfortunate that this regime has failed to come up to the expectations of the people”, he regretted and added “neither this government can carry forward the reconciliatory process nor the developmental activities initiated by the previous PDP-Congress coalition”. “Inability of the NC government to respond to the peoples’ problems could have negative fallout on the situation in the sensitive state”, he observed and pointed out that growing alienation of the people of State especially of Kashmir Valley was result of government’s wrong policies. Expressing his grave concern over mounting problems of the common people due to indifferent attitude of the present dispensation, he observed that instead of concentrating on ground situation the National Conference led coalition has looking for one after another excuse to shift blames of its failures on the others. “Instead of fulfilling the promises which the ruling party had made with the people during the assembly elections, this government has been looking for excuses to hide its failures”, he said. Prominent among those who joined PDP included Javed Ahmed, Lal Hussain, Karamdad, Bagh Hussain, Mohammad Hamid and others.
