Govt likely to ban JKLF, BJYM proagramme of Jan 26

Early Times Report
Jammu,Jan 14 :- With the JKLF urging people to march towards Lal Chowk on January 26 to counter Yuva Morcha’s flag hoisting , the government has been left with no option but to ban both the programmes. The JKLF programme has evoked support from Mirwaiz led Hurriyat Conference.
Police sources said that Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is left with no option but to direct the security forces to prevent Sangh marchers from reaching to Lal Chowk and initiate adequate measures for blocking all the routes to the city centre to keep the supporters of the JKLF and the APHC away from the venue.
Earlier Omar Abdullah had suggested to the BJP to suspend its plan of hoisting the national flag at Lal Chowk on January 26 but now he may have to deal firmly with the programme of the Sangh parivar.
The sources said that if the Government failed to initiate firm measures for preventing both the BJP and the JKLF from carrying their plan it could trigger a major law and order problem in Srinagar which could have its impact in other states.
According to the sources, the activists of the BJP and its youth wing in various states, including Punjab,Haryana and Himachal, were making preparations for participating in the flag hoisting ceremony in Lal Chowk. And if these activists were not stopped from proceeding to Srinagar it could result in a clash between the activists of the Sangh parivar and the supporters of the JKLF.
Police said that in the interest of peace and communal harmony it had become necessary for the Government to impose a ban on both the programmes.
Official sources said that police barriers may be established on the highway right from Lakhanpur to Udhampur for preventing BJYM activists from travelling to Srinagar. They said similar barriers may be set up in the entire city of Srinagar to prevent JKLF supporters from reaching to Lal Chowk.
The sources said that the final decision would be taken shortly. Once the orders were received to foil both the programmes the entire Lal Chowk area would be placed under a three-tier security ring so that not a single activist of either the BJYM or the JKLF were able to raise their voice in Lal Chowk.
