Court orders transfer of accused to different jails

Jammu, January: 14 (JNF):- The Second Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Vinod Chatterji Koul today ordered shifting of the accused in Amandeep murder case to different jails.
Taking cognizance of three petitions preferred for seeking transfer of the accused to different jails, the court observed that situation has winched to the fore-just with the beginning of the trial in the Amandeep murder case. Three different applications have been filed with the same prayer that the custody of the accused be shifted to Kathua, Hira-Nagar, Udhampur or any other jail in the state.
Before discussing the merit of these applications, it is necessary to state that there are nine accused facing trial in this case and the trial has just begun. The accused are facing different charges including murder and criminal conspiracy, till now witness has been examined and all the accused are lodged in the central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu.
The applications had been filed by accused Rakesh Singh for shifting him from Central Jail Jammu, Superintendent Central Jail Jammu for shifting the accused to some other jail and application of prosecution witnesses for segregating the accused.
As per the court orders accused Rakesh Singh and accused Jatinder Singh to be shifted to District Jail Kathua. Choudhary Nagar Singh, Sarwar Hussain Bukhari and Raj Singh shifted to Sub-Jail Hira Nagar from Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu whereas accused Royal Singh, Satnam Singh, Sultan Mirza and Manohar Singh will continue in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu.
While directing the authorities to shift the accused to different jails, the court further observed that shifting the custody of some of the accused must not in any manner effect the pace of trail. Jail Authorities shall ensure the attendance of accused during Trial without fail. Necessary warrants be issued to Suprintendents of concerned Jails to lodge the accused as directed. JNF
