Govt. has betrayed militancy victims: TAPF | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 14: Terrorism Affected Peoples Front (TAPF) has alleged that State Government has backstabbed them by denying relief assistance to the militancy victims. Front has alleged that on the name of GAD order dated 2009, which says that if the victim family has monthly income of Rs 5000 that family would not been provided with compensation of Rs five lakh. Addressing a press conference, ex-MLA Mohd Farooq Mir said that it is matter of concern that hundreds of families who suffered at the hands of militants have been denied relief and other assistance on this ‘black order’. “Under SRO- 283 which was issued in 1991 government has committed that one member of the family victim of militancy would be given job and later under SRO-43 of 1994, it was decided that each militancy victim family would receive a compensation of Rs five lakh but in many cases government has failed to provide assistance”. He added that thousands of cases are still pending and waiting for justice in district Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua and even some cases in Samba those have not been given the full compensation.but the government seems to be carefree about their problems. He further said that they have decided to hold a meeting of various fronts those are fighting for militancy affected people of Jammu region on January 30 to discuss the future course of action. Front has alleged that most of the people who have fell to militancy have bee discriminated by the successive state government. “There are hundreds of cases were despite promises by the administration, no compensation has been provided to the victims and they are still living a miserable life”, front has said.
