JAMMU, Jan 14: After much wait, Abhiyaan, a NGO today released the feature film ‘Lakeer’, the first ever film in Pahari language at the Hari theatre. Film was inaugurated by Mushtaq Bukhari, vice chairman of Pahari Speaking People Development Board (PSPDB).
The film is about people who suffered great pain and separation because of India’s partition. The story is about young hearts who fall in love; start to live their dreams, only to live apart from each other after the division of the country.
Movie starts in the undivided J&K of 1940s to PaK and back to India of the 21st century, when India and Pakistan agree to allow cross-border travel to those who have their kin scattered across the Line of Control (LoC). The aged lovers meet after some 60 years. But their reunion ends in a tragedy.
Other eminent personalities who also watched the film included Mubarak Gul, advisor to the Chief Minister, TS Wazir MLC, Harbans Singh ex-MLC, and Surinder Singh Shringari.
