Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 14
Exposing the financial irregularities, mismanagement and misappropriation of funds, hollow academic excellence, unbridled misuse of power and authority in flagrant violation of University Act and statues by Prof Amitabh Mattoo, blue-eyed boy and proposed incumbent for Central University, Jammu during his two terms as Vice Chancellor, Jammu University (2002-08), JCUM while quoting the Accountant General (Audit) J&K, report, dated 02.04.2008 of performance review on working in University of Jammu for the period 2003-04 to 2007-08 and another report of S.L Bhat Committee constituted by the Chancellor, Governor J&K on 01 December 2008 said that these reports have clearly indicted him as an accused but the Government including the Chancellor slept over the file and no action till date.
JCUM leaders questioned the credibility of Government for empanelling and proposing Amitabh Mattoo for this prestigious assignment where hundred of crores of rupees are involved, that too, after his apparent indictment for malfunctioning, financial irregularities, degradation in academic standards and unbridled misuse of power and authority in clear violation of University Act and Statues and observed that Government seems to have been influenced and prevailed upon by the tainted and corrupt officials because of which all top assignments are being offered to those tainted officials who instead of doing good has brought bad name to the Government and Nation.
JCUM leaders lashed down heavily upon those who are trying to mislead the common man by creating an impression that only Mattoo is capable of leading the University as if all Jammuities are handicapped, incapable and have no potential to lead this University and warned these handful of paid campaigners of dire consequences in case they continue to abuse and undermine Jammu’s potential and talent.
JCUM Leaders extended full support to JPPF programme of torch light procession and appealed people to participate in strength and express solidarity with Jammu’s cause.
