JJSF lodges noisy protest against Mattoo | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 15: Jammu Joint Students Federation (JJSF) today staged a noisy protest against the appointment of Prof. Amitabh Mattoo as Vice-Chancellor of Central University for Jammu and sought appointment of a local at the earliest. According to handout issued here today, Senior JJSF Leaders Ashutosh Sharma and Sahil Choudhary raised serious questions over the policies of the state government. The leaders warned state government to leave discriminatory policies and treat all the three divisions of J&K equally. They condemned the appointment of Professor Amitabh Mattoo as V.C of Central University in hard words and warned state government to take urgent and necessary steps for appointment of a local professor as vice-chancellor of central university. Others who were present on the occasion included Sumit, Navjot, Prikshit, Rohit, Ashwani Kumar, Darpan Khajuria, Sunil, Siddharth, Sahil, Gagan, Kamal, Karan, Stanzin, Mohammed Arif and Mohammed Arfan. Page 3 Efficient work force must for implementing developmental schemes: Dy CM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 15: Calling upon Municipal staff to perform duties with zeal and dedication, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that effective implementation of development policies calls for efficient and capable work force. “While government expects dedicated work from you, it is aware of your genuine issues and is committed to address the same”, he said. Tara Chand said this while addressing members of Safai Karamchari Union of Jammu Municipal Corporation, who called on him at his residence, today. Former Minister, Gharu Ram, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) S. C. Sahani and Secretary, JMC were present on the occasion. Union presented charter of demands to the Deputy Chief Minister, which inter-alia included reorganization of JMC, holding of DPC, regularization of staff and construction of new colonies for safai karamcharis. Tara Chand gave patient hearing to the demands put forth by the Union and assured for speedy redressal of all the genuine issues. Deputy Chief Minister said with active support of the central government mega urban development projects have already been launched in the State which on completion will help to modernize cities and towns. He said liberal funding from centre has taken urban development in the state to next level and under flagship scheme of JNNURM not only cities are getting better infrastructure but care has also been taken to rehabilitate urban poor.
