Budget session in LA | BJP, PP to seek delimitation commission | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 16:-The BJP and the Panthers Party intend to raise the issue pertaining to the setting up of delimitation commission during the budget session of the Assembly next month. Both BJP and the Panthers Party leaders believe that without increasing the number of Assembly seats the problem of discrimination of people of the Jammu region would not end. Working chairman of the Panthers Party, Harsh Dev Singh said that he would move either a resolution or table a bill for amending the state constitution so that fresh delimitation commission was set up. “This alone will get Jammu region 47 seats in the Assembly instead of 37”, he said. Senior BJP leader, Ashok Khajuria said that his party will raise the issue during the question and zero hours so that the Government was forced to amend the constitution which prevents constitution of a delimitation commission till 2026. The Panthers Party will also seek attention of the House over the need for adopting a new system under which there was complete parity in the distribution of funds for development projects between the Kashmir valley and the Jammu region. Dev said that he would seek a white paper on the number of development schemes sanctioned under the state and the central sectors during the last two years. He would seek, on the floor of the Assembly, information about the number of development projects undertaken during the last two years and the reason for underutilization of funds earmarked for development projects. He wanted the centre to set up a team of experts for monitoring the progress in the centrally sponsored schemes in Jammu and Kashmir following reports that the state agencies had failed to execute these schemes as per the time schedule. The BJP leaders said that they would seek information from the Government regarding steps it had taken in resolving the problem of unemployment in Jammu region. They said they would seek specific information about the number of jobs given to the youths in the Kashmir valley and in the Jammu region during the last two years.
