EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU Jan 16: Cautioning BJP against going ahead with its proposed programme of unfurling national flag at Lal Chowk, Senior Congress leader and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil today advised them to let the peace and rationality prevail across Kashmir valley which has witnessed bloody four month long strife and violence.
Vakil said the party is known for its communal programmes and lambasted the party’s programme and said BJP has seemingly learnt no lesson from its murky past. It is carrying on with its communal mindset and Lal Chowk programme is another drama being enacted by it to befool commoners across the nation. Vakil said National flag is as dear to every Kashmiri as it would be to any other Indian.
``We do not want BJP to give us lessons on nationalism. The party is making another attempt to divide people of Jammu and Kashmir along regional and communal lines which is extremely unfortunate,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, Vakil alleged that opposition in the State was in hand-in glove with the corrupt people and that is the reason they were creating hurdles in reviving accountability commission since there are cases against some of their leaders.
He said that they know that once the SAC is revived, noose would be tightened against some of their leaders who during their tenure looted the public money.
He said the leaders whether they are in government or holding office in the party should voluntarily leave the government or party post as they been indicted in corruption cases in different courts on the basis of prime facia evidence, have to be thrown out or weeded out from the Government or positions of power so the Govt. is not painted as a whole corrupt Government.
Abdul Gani Vakil was addressing a convention in Jammu organized by J&K Sevadal.
Besides others who addressed the convention include Ex. Minister Chowdhary Gharu Ram, General Secretary J&K PCC Vinod Sharma, Chief J&K Seva Dal Balwinder Singh Sambyal and many others.
