| JKP to organize series of culture events: DGP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 16: Director General of Police (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda today said that Jammu and Kashmir Police will organize series of cultural events for the entertainment of its personnel and their families to ease their stress caused due to tough duty schedule.
Addressing audience at a police function organized in connection with SaMaPa Aalap festival- 2011 sponsored by Sopoori Academy of Music and performing arts, Khoda said that today's function was first in the proposed series of functions being organized by police organization for its officers, Jawans and their families .
Pandit Bhajan Soopori and Abhay Rushtam Sopori presented scintillating Santoor duet recital accompanied by Ustad Refidddin Sabri on Tabla at the police auditorium, Gulshan Ground this evening . They presented Raga Gawati with brief Aalap and Jod and composition in Ektaal and Teentaal. They made audience sing various expressions of the raga and other sufiana items.
On the occasion, Khoda felicitated father-son duo and their team for presenting spectacular programme which kept audience spell- bound. He also highlighted contribution of Bhajan Sopori and Abhay Sopori in promotion of classical and sufiana music as well as popularizing Santoor across the world.
Earlier, the Additional Director General of Police, Armed/ Law and Order, K. Rajindra Kumar presented welcome address and thanked Bhajan Sopori and his team members for accepting the invitation from Police organization for the entertainment of police personnel and their families.
Among others, the culture evening was attended by Inspectors General of Police (IGP) D.R. Doley, Dilbag Singh and Ravinder Kotwal, DIG, Administration, Alok Puri, SSP Vijay Singh Sambyal, Commandants of Jammu based Armed and IRP Battalions and large number of Police Officers, Jawans with their families.
