1/17/2011 12:48:46 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Jan 16: After the Matric (class 10th) result leak, J&K Board of School Education's (JKBOSE) tall claims of authenticity and transparency stand exposed. A shamed BOSE is all set to install Close Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras and other audio recording devices in the secrecy room, strong room and code room in its Srinagar office to ensure secrecy.
After installation of about a dozen Close Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras and other audio recording devices in the secrecy room, strong room and code room in Jammu office, JKBOSE is mulling to install devices in its Srinagar office.
Police is currently investigating the result leak but so far the investigating agency is clueless and has not got any breakthrough.
Apart from the result leak this week, the question paper leak scandal had hit the JKBOSE April last year. In a damage control exercise, the board has installed about a dozen Close Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras and other audio recording devices in the secrecy room, strong room and code room in Jammu office, which deals with the question and answer papers.
However sources told Agence India Press that the project had got delayed due to the summer unrest and some other reasons in Srinagar. Sources said that BOSE has also pressed in extra man force to frisk the employees entering different blocks of the building. It has already decided to give custody of the question papers to Jammu and Kashmir bank, to ensure that board officials have little contact with the papers.
A middle rung officer told the agency that they will be using the modern technology to ensure proper security of the question papers. "It does not mean we are spying on the employees, but it is necessary to put black sheep under the scanner and identify them", said the officer.
Sources said that officials have also decided that from now on the question papers will be issued to the superintendent of the examination on the day of the examination either in the hall or an hour before the commencement of the examination.
It is pertinent to mention here that it was third year in a row that question papers of the 12th standard and 10th standard were leaked out by the officials from the inner circle of the JKBOSE. Thousands of students take admissions in professional colleges across the country after qualifying 10+2 examinations conducted by JKBOSE. During the investigations, the police had unearthed leakage of three question papers of the secondary class and one paper of higher secondary class Part-II. Officials said that similar racket was operating in Kashmir valley.
