Police to make tourney a regular feature: Khoda
Avinish excels in Amritsar’s title win in T20

KATHUA, Jan 17: Back to back brilliant knocks by young Avinish today guided Amritsar Sports Club to clinch title in the DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament played at Sports Stadium, here.
In the final, played today, visiting Amritsar Club outplayed Stadium (Sr) XI Jammu comfortably by eight wickets to lift the winners’ trophy and a cash prize of Rs 51,000, sponsored by Satyam Cement.
The glittering trophy and prize money was given away to the winners by chief guest, Director General of J&K Police, Kuldeep Khoda. The runners-up, Stadium XI presented Rs 25,000 cash prize. Cash prize for runners-up was sponsored by Kathua Industries Units Association and was given away by Sarndeep and Ajit Baba.
Avinish, who played an unbeaten innings of 96 (off 54 balls, 12x4, 3x6) runs, was obvious choice for man of the match award. Parshad Singh of Stadium XI Kathua was adjudged best all rounder of the tournament while best batsman trophy went to Pardeep Bali and best bowler title was secured by Inderjeet Singh.
In his address to the gathering, DGP was pleased to inform that the DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Twenty20 Tournament will be made a regular feature by giving it a national look. He appreciated the senior police officers and other members of the organizing committee for making the event a grand success.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Stadium XI bowled out for 145 in 19 overs. Pardeep Bali was main scorer with 64-ball 75 runs while Sahil contributed 19-ball 25 runs. Avinish and Pankaj took three wickets each from Amritsar Club.
In reply, Amritsar Club chased the total making 148 runs for the loss of two wickets in 17.4 overs. Avinish and Arush played unbeaten knocks of 96 and 39 runs respectively. Pranab Mahajan took the only wicket from Stadium XI.
