Govt enhances ration quota for Jammu dist | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 17- Government has enhanced ration quota for Jammu district to 4992 MTs per month for the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year against 2807 MTs per month in the year 2007. This was revealed at a meeting of officers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department, Jammu held here under the chairmanship of Minister for CA&PD and transport Qamar Ali Akhoon. The meeting was informed that during the year 2007 the quota of Atta for Jammu district was 1857 MTs while quota of rice was 950 MTs per month. Likewise atta to the extent of 3370 MTs and rice 1622 MTs would be provided to the district per month during the fourth quarter of current financial year, the meeting was told. Speaking on the occasion, Akhoon said that the providing of basic amenities to the people of the State is in the priority of the Government and stressed upon the officers for initiating efforts for fair distribution of food grains among the rationees. He asked them to intensify checking of dealers through whom ration is being supplied and ensure that rationees get ration as per the scales fixed. He also directed for strictly maintenance of counter foil by the dealers to check pilferage and irregularities. Minister also directed for issuing temporary ration cards to nomads and the people living in hilly areas of Kishtwar and Rajouri districts who are presently getting ration against lists. Among others who attended the meeting include Director CA&PD Parvez Ahmad Malik and Deputy Directors of the department of Jammu province.
