2 held for extorting money on LeT letter heads | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR Jan 17 : Two persons allegedly involved in collecting money on the letter heads of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) were arrested in Baramulla district of north Kashmir today, a police spokesman said. Acting on a specific information, the police nabbed Mohammad Shafi Bhat and Mohammad Irfan from their houses in Behrampora village of Sopore, 55 kms from here, he said. A computer and letter heads of LeT were recovered from them, he said, adding, they were using the letters to collect money from the people in the town. In another case, the spokesman said police arrested three persons impersonating as forest officials and extorting money from people in the area. They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, Hilal Ahmad Malla and Abdul Qayoom Chopan, all residents of Amargarh-Sopore, the spokesman said. He said a sports utility vehicle and Rs 20,000 were recovered from them. Meanwhile, the Sopore police seized fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 1.15 lakh and arrested two persons.
