Handicrafts Expo-2011 concludes at Jammu Haat

JAMMU, Jan 17- The Handicrafts Exhibition-cum-Sale organised by the Handicrafts Department between January 4 to 17 concluded here at Jammu Haat today.
The exhibition 58 stalls comprising of different crafts of all the three regions of the state were at display. Nearly about fifty thousand visitors visited the exhibition and showed huge response by purchasing the handicrafts goods worth Rs.17.25 lakh approx.
The main objective of organizing such types of exhibitions/artisans awareness camps will boost the activities of the artisans in the state and to earn more and more their livelihood or employment opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Handicrafts, Jammu, Reva Kumari stressed the artisans/unemployed youths in particular the female folk to adopt the handicrafts activities in their respective areas in order to preserve the age-old traditional crafts of the state Vijay Singh Sambyal, President of the Handicrafts Employees Association, Jammu also thanked for their wholehearted cooperation of all the participants/ colleagues/ administration for organizing such types of events and also asked for arranging the to and fro/carriage expenses for the subordinates staff.
She also thanked to all the participants who attended the exhibition even from Kashmir/Jammu and Leh regions. She was very graceful to all the government agencies viz electronic and press media, Department of Information, municipality, PHE, PDD, Police authority and Fire/Emergencies for extending the wholehearted cooperation in making a event a grand success. Besides others, Development Officers Narmata Dogra and Rachna Sharma, Deputy Registrar Induscos, Ramesh Kumar Rayu, Assistant Registrar, Hussain Shah, HTO Samba Mohd Iqbal, HTO Stores Jammu Baldev, HTOs Jammu K D Sharma and S P Singh, Assistant Handicrafts Training Officer Samba, Ashwani Kumar etc also attended the concluded function at Jammu Haat.
