| Harassment of students continues, Teacher demands graft | | | DODA NOV 8 The harassment of students at the hands of their teachers has taken alarming shape and with every passing day such reports do pour in from different parts of the State. The latest case in this regard has been reported from Doda district where a teacher, besides harassing his taught, allegedly demanded Rs.5000 from a student.. The report said that on October 31 last, a poor student namely Krishan Kumar S/O Naik Lal was harassed by his teacher Mohammad Ashraf posted at Government Higher Secondary School Malothi, Doda The teacher, who was deputed on examination duty as Deputy Superintendent at Centre No. 753 HS School Malothi, severely beat the student for not paying him Rs.5000/- as sought by the above named teacher. The concerned teacher ruthlessly beat the student all the time till the examination was over as a result of which the student could not appear in the paper on that day, though being present at the examination Centre. Although the matter was brought to the notice of J&K State Board of School Education and Chief Education Officer Doda, both verbally and through an affidavit, yet the CEO Doda did not took any action against the erring teacher against whom a FIR already stands registered in Police Post Bhalla under section 452 RPC. However, no action has been initiated against the alleged accused teacher due to the influence he is enjoying with those at the helm of affairs. The reports said that a deputation of people from the village called on the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police and sought their intervention in taking necessary action against the erring teacher to avoid occurrence of such ugly incidents in future.
