| Sitaar recital in Heritage school | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 17: As a sequal to Sa Ma Pa Aalap festival, sitaar recital programme was held under the aegis of Sopori Academy of Music and Performing Arts in the amphitheatre of Heritage School here today.
The programme was presided over by secretary of Sa Ma Pa Academy Abhay Sopori. Traditional lighting of lamp by Ustad Sajjad Ahmed (Senior Harmonium Maestro), Pandit Ravindra Misra ( Musicologist and Music Critics), Mr. Abay Sopori and Sh. Charan singh ( sitar player) was followed by introductory address of Abhay Sopori. Highlighting importance of such recitals, he emphasized need to propagate classical music which is the universal language of mankind functioning as a bridge between diverse cultures.
Sudents of Heritage School set the tone by presenting a song in Raag Bilawal. The audience felt elated. The captivating programme of Sitaar recital was presented by Ustad Saeed Zafar Khan. He was accompanied by Ustaad Rafiuddin Sabri on Tabla and Poushali Dutta on Tanpura. Prominent among other present in the programme were Jagdeep Kour, Parveen Sabarwal( Sa Ma Pa Co-ordinator Jammu) and Sarit Dass Tabla Player.
