Visit of Interlocutors | Udhampur congress seeks delimitation | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Jan 18: District Congress Committee (DCC) Udhampur today impressed upon the interlocutors to recommend fresh delimitation of constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir. Interacting with team of interlocutors here today, District Congress Committee (DCC) Udhampur led by its president Bhupinder Singh Pathania and senior Congress leader Brij Mohan Sharma sought fresh delimitation. Pathania told interlocutors that population and area of Jammu province is more as compared to assembly segments in Kashmir province yet number of representatives is in reverse order. He further alleged that sector-wise expenditure on development in Jammu is comparatively lesser whereas in the field of revenue generation, figures in Jammu are comparatively higher as compared to those in Kashmir. Making specific mention of Landar-Panchari, Majalta and Dudu-Basantgarh areas, congress leaders said that these areas being vast and densely populated need separate representation in the Assembly. Congress leaders also demanded tehsil status for Basantgarh and Panchari villages, Degree Colleges at Chenani and Majalta alongside seeking comprehensive package for boosting tourism in the district. They also sought Accidental Hospitals at Garhi, Rehmbal and Manwal. Among others who accompanied the team included Krishan Chander Bhagat, MLA Chenani, Anil Pachiala, Shankar dass advocate, Sham Samotra, Shri Raj and Sumit Magotra.
