1/18/2011 9:01:29 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 18: The protest dharna of Physiotherapists, who are demanding their adjustment in state health department, today entered 57th day here at Mubarak Mandi. The agitating Jammu Kashmir Physiotherapists’ Association (JKPA) rued that despite repeated attempts to convey their grievances through peaceful protest, the government did not pay any heed towards their plight.
The Physiotherapists regret that instead government is misusing Jammu Kashmir Police and stopped them to meet with the Chief Minister, Governor and others.
JKPA submitted memorandum to all the senior members of the society and also other non-governmental organizations and all of them have fully supported our demands with a common comment of “JKPA demands are genuine and shame on government’s irresponsiveness.” JKPA extended a big thank to public, all student organizations, social organization, political and non- political organization for their support even in this chilling cold and JKPA is sure for their hand to hand support as always in future too.
JKPA leaders quoted “Government is formed by a democratic system of the largest democracy and itself is now killing the democracy itself by giving boost to stone pelters and militants by making policies for them in the name of rehabilitation but sadly the the educated unemployed are being igored.”
Media Convener JKPA Dr Gagan R Charak said“According to Jammu & Kashmir State Report of health infrastructure, there are 375 Primary Health Centers, 21 District Hospitals, 4 Medical Colleges in the State and there is more than one crore population of the State and to serve them there are not even 10 qualified physiotherapists working in all of these health institutions.”
