BJP condemns police action on JPPF rally | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 18: State Bharatiya Janta Party has condemned the police action on peaceful Mashal rally taken out under the banner of Jammu People’s Provincial Forum (JPPF) last evening. Such an action is yet another example of government’s move to silence the voice of the Jammuites belonging to different organizations and sections, said BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas, while expressing party’s concern over the attitude of the NC-Congress coalition towards the people of Jammu who adopt democratic means to raise their voice on certain issues. Manhas said that a number of social organizations, under the banner of JPPF were taking out Mashal Rally on Tuesday evening in Jammu’s Old city in a peaceful and democratic manner. The participants in the said rally were not indulging in any violent activity or raising provoking slogans. Everyone has a right to express his resentment and hold protest in a peaceful manner and they too were doing the same. It was not a crime or an act which required use of police force. Manhas advised the state government not to use the men in khaki to supress the genuine voice of the people of Jammu. During this historic land row agitation, the then state government adopted every method and used police, CRPF and Rapid Action Force but it completely fail to keep the people confined to the four walls, he added.
