| Start Duggar channel: Magotra | | ‘Kashir channel represent aspiration of Kashmiris only’ | | JAMMU | NOV 8 Ignoring of Dogra Culture and languages on Kashir channel has been strongly resented by the activists of Duggar Channel action committee. The committee has demands setting of a separate “Duggar Channel” to meet the aspirations of the entire Jammu region. This was disclosed in a press conference by the convener of the Duggar Channel action committee, Prof. Lalit Magotra here today. He said Kashir Channel has not only failed in meeting the aspirations of Jammu people, but has failed in its aim of countering the malicious propaganda of channels across the LOC. Beside, this it clearly shows that art, culture and languages of Jammu region are not of any importance to authorities associated with Kashir Channel. Magotra further said, the programme telecast on Kashir Channel in Kashmiri language understood on the majority population which speaks, Dogri Gojri, Pahari and Punjabi languages. He said, he working of Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu is very disappointing, though it was declared full-fledged Kendra in 1996, but it still continues to function as PGF, and added the range of the Kendra is limited to 25 Kms and ahs total transmission of four hours, out of which one hour is reserved for transmission from Srinagar Kendra. Magotra is the press conference forcibly advocated a separate full-fledged Duggar Channel, which will high –light the customs, culture, heritage and other developmental issues of Jammu region. He said Dori language is understood on both sides of LOC, and as such both central and state Govt. should take immediate steps to start separate Duggar Channel from Jammu. Among others present in conference were Th. Sudhir Singh Jamwal, Nirmal Vikram, Rakesh Premi, Balraj Basholi, Kanwar Singh and Sheikh Mohd. Kalyanjee.
