Roots in Kashmir takes exception to Omar’s statement | | | Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Jan 19: Roots in Kashmir has taken strong exception to the statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah after meeting Home Minister P. Chidambaram today in which he said that efforts are being made for the return of Kashmiri Pandits. "Ironically, Kashmiri Pandits today complete 21 years in exile. Omar Abdullah along with the Government at the centre should answer why no probe has been ordered on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits,” said founder member of the group Aditya Raj Kaul in a statement issued here today. Roots In Kashmir has also expressed serious concern at the functioning of National Conference led government of Jammu and Kashmir. It has added that J&K government’s proposal for rehabilitation of stone throwers, ex-militants, militants now living across the LOC in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, surrendered militants and victims of militancy clearly betrays its true intentions. "Omar Abdullah cannot ensure security for an Indian to hoist national flag at Lalchowk,” asked Rashneek Kher of Roots in Kashmir. To escape persecution, more than 500,000 Kashmiri Pandits had to leave their homes in the Valley and over 50,000 refugees are still languishing in uninhabitable refugee camps in Jammu and Delhi.
