SVO presents challan against Tehsildar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, January: 19 (JNF):- State Vigilance Organization Jammu today presented challan against Janak Singh then Tehsildar Recovery and Co-Accused Raghubir Singh real brother-in-law of Janak Singh & Brother Gandarv Singh in disproportionate assets case According to the facts of the case verification conducted into the allegations of raising assets disproportionate assets to his known source of income has revealed that Janak Singh then posted as Tehsildar Recovery Jammu who joined Revenue Dept as Patwari in the year 1966 by indulging in corrupt practices during his service career has acquired assets disproportionate to his known source of income in his own name and in the name of his close relatives. The verification has found that alleged accused constructed a double storey residential house on a piece of land more than 2 Kanals at Shastri Nagar and has established a petrol pump namely “Shankar Filling Station” at Greater Kilash Jammu in the name of his family members. Janak Singh was found to have resorted to acquisition of these and other moveable and immovable properties including land in his name and in the name of his close relative in order to conceal their illicit origin. The assets acquired by the Janak Singh public servant were found thus disproportionate assets to his known source of income of Janak Singh s/o Shanker Singh then Tehsildar and after completion of the investigation today challan was presented in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption against Janak Singh, Raghubir Singh & Gandarv Singh U/S 5(1) (e) r/w section 5(2) PC Act 2006 and section 109/120-B RPC, Section 12/14 Public Men & Public Servant declaration of assets Act and Section 3 of J&K Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act 2010. According to the challan the investigation conducted has revealed that the accused officer by indulging in corrupt and illegal practices during his period of service amassed wealth in the shape of moveable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known source of income which has valued Rs 77, 07, 919/- in order to conceal his ill-gotten wealth, the accused raised most of these properties in the name of Ragubir Singh brother-in-law and Gandarv Singh brother of the accused. He further concealed his own property before the Authority by not showing the same in his annual property statements which he has not submitted before concerned authorities. The accused has purchased land and sold without obtaining any permission from Govt and also accepted gifts without any information to Govt. In another challan presented today by State Vigilance Organization against Junior Engineer Narinder Singh who was caught red-handed by the VOJ while demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 from the complainant Omkar Singh a contractor for preparing final bill of construction work of school building of Government Primary School Karand. On this complaint VOJ laid a trap and today after completion of investigation presented challan in the Court of law. JNFJNF/JANUARY/19/2011/3
