| Commerce faces Udhampur College to defend men’s chess title | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 20: Government SPMR College of Commerce shall be playing against Government Degree College Udhampur to defend the trophy in inter-college chess tournament, organised by Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus, here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Commerce College trounced Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College 3-2 in an interesting contest which was decided on best of best basis.
In the main draw, the match ended in a 2-2 draw and later in best of best game Rohit Bhardwaj managed a win over Rajneet Singh to guide his side to 3-2 win.
The Results: Munish Gupta bt Samandeep Singh; Rohit Bhardwaj bt Sanjeev; Simaran Pal Singh lost to Zaheen Mustafa and Ishuaku Mahajan lost to Rajneet Singh. Best of Best: Rohit Bhardwaj bt Rajneet Singh.
Meanwhile, in the second semi-final, Degree College Udhampur defeated Government Degree College Kathua again in best of best contest 3-2.
The Results: Inderjeet Singh bt Varinder Singh; Deepak Thakur drew against Rohit Pachama; Munish Sharma drew against Nageshwar Jasrotia; Sunil Kumar lost to Vivek Sharma. Best of Best: Munish Sharma bt Vivek Sharma.
