Traffic resumes to Kishtwar
1/20/2011 9:55:09 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU Jan 20: The vehicular traffic to Kishtwar district today resumed as the Batote-Kishtwar highway was cleared after remaining closed for five days due to a landslide, police said today.
"The highway to Kishtwar was reopened for vehicular traffic after the landslide was cleared after 5 days of blockade," Police Control Room officials said.
There was immediate relief to the hundreds of stranded passengers as the Border Roads Organisation cleared the landslide from Kishtwar side of the Highway (1-B), they said.
About 400 vehicles were stranded all these days and some of them were today allowed to move from Jammu city to Kishtwar, they added.
The highway had been blocked for vehicular traffic since January 15 as a result of a major landslide on the Batote-Kishtwar road near Drabshalla, 245 kms from here.
