Rs 5 cr auditorium in Gandhi Nagar soon: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JAN 20-Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that Government has earmarked Rs. 5 crore for construction of air conditioned auditorium at the proposed space at Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar, adding, on the completion of hall, the local schools would arrange exhibitions and cultural programmes at their doorstep. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at Rotary Club, Gandhi Nagar after laying the foundation stone of Children’s Park, coming up at a cost of Rs. 9.7 lakh. Bhalla asked the executing agency Jammu Municipal Corporation to complete the development works of park within stipulated time frame by providing seating, illumination, drinking water, and swings (Jhullas) besides fixing of interlock tiles on pathway adding that the park would be developed on modern lines so that the children could enjoy their free hours in the recreation park. The Minister said Government has sanctioned Rs 7 crore for face-lifting and development of parks in various localities of city of temples to attract the tourists adding that development of clean surroundings, well developed roads and green areas are primarily significant for attracting lakh of pilgrim tourists on way to darshan of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The Minister said that coalition Government has earmarked Rs110 crore for developing Belicharana a tourist spot adding that an artificial lake in Niki Tawi and Rs. 150 crore four-lane Bridge over river Tawi connecting Bhagwati Nagar with Belicharana are being constructed for the purpose. He said the on the completion of lake, the unemployed youth would avail the benefits by starting self-ventures on the way to Bikran Chowk besides the bridge will provide shortest alternate approach to posh Gandhi Nagar area. Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 316.40 lakh for construction of multipurpose Teacher Bhawan at Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar, coming up by January 2012 adding that the complex would have three seater bed rooms, dormitory, dining hall, kitchen, store, cook room, guest room and reception office. Responding to the people’s demands, the Minister announced Rs. 6 lakh for upgradation of a lane and a drain in Nanak Nagar Sector No. 7 and Rs. 7 lakh for laying of water supply pipes in uncovered areas of Bandhu Rakh. He said there is no constraint of funds adding that aim of the Government is to fulfill all aspirations of the people so that they do not feel any hardships on account of civic amenities.
