Ekta yatra advance batch to reach Jammu on Jan 22 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 20: With BJP and BJYM state unit is all busy in finalising the arrangements for Ekta Yatra and the boarding and lodging of the party activists reaching here on January 24 to hoist the National Flag at Lal Chowk, Srinagar on Republic Day, the first Jatha of 1200 partymen are likely to reach Jammu on January 22afternoon from Gujarat. According to Party sources the first jatha from Gujarat will reach Jammu on January 24 which will be followed by other jathas from Southern state of Karnataka, Madhaypradesh, Chatisgarh, Uttrakhand and Bihar. They will reach during the evening of January 22 and January 23 respectively, sources added. Sources said BJYM which has opened a control room at Party Headquarters here to monitor the arrangements for the yatra, has made arrangements for accommodation of 25000 yatris at Jammu and its outskirts in the houses of party activists. Besides the community centres and other commercial buildings ahve been hired for the accommodation of remaining yatris, sources added. Sources said the BJP sympathisers and activists have been given instructions to arrange packed lunch and dinner boxes for the yatris. The yatris all across the country have been asked to bring warm clothes, jackets etc with them in view of the cold climate of the Kashmir Valley. BJYM which is committed to take the yatra to Kashmir and hoist National Flag at historic Lal Chowk Srinagar on Republic Day besides laying wreaths at the memorials of Martyrs Maqbool Sherwni and Brig Rajinder Singh at Baramulla and Uri respectively is ready for any sacrifice to take its present mission to logical conclusion. The BJP has reiterated its appeal to Chief Minister and other leaders to join the Ekta rally and Flag hoisting ceremony at Lal Chowk to silence the voice of those who challenged the J&K's accession with rest of country. Meanwhile the BJP and BJYM leaders who visited Kashmir Valley to hold meetings with top brass of police and civil administration to seek permission for Ekta yatra reached Jammu this afternoon to hold talks with senior party leaders here. The BJP leaders including Mohinder Pandey national coordinator party cells and Morchas, Nitin Navin, BJYM national general secretary incharge yatra and party state vice president Chander Parkash Ganga also held a core group meeting of the party at Srinagar yesterday and discussed the arrangements. The Party leader from Kashmir have assured them that in the event the yatra is not allowed to cross enter Kashmir, over 5000 Partymen will assemble in Lal Chowk from Kashmir Valley to unfurl the National Flag at Lal Chowk, Srinagar. BJP sources said the state president of the Party, Shamsher Singh Manhas also visited Kathua today the entry point of yatra to state to discuss the arrangements with Party leaders there. The party will also discuss the strategy to be adopted in the event the yatra was stopped at Lakhanpur, sources added. Meanwhile the Ekata yatra which started on January 12 from Kolkatta in West Bengal entered Delhi today. The yatra is led by BJYM national president Nurag Thakur and it is slated to reach Jammu on January 24.
