| Women’s kabaddi event abandoned | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, January 21: The annual inter-college women’s kabaddi tournament has been abandoned, the reason being no team turned up for participation in the event despite confirming their entries well in advance to Director Physical Education and Sports, University of Jammu, here today.
Finding only the defending champion, the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments reporting the venue, the organizers left with no other option but to abandon the event.
“Out of nine confirmed entries from affiliated colleges of JU, we could find only PG women at the venue, so had no other alternate to abandon the annual event,” Assistant Director Sports and Physical Education, Ramesh Magotra told SAN.
It is pertinent to mention that the five-day event started on January on the campus and no match could take place in the first two days.
Colleges which had confirmed their entries for participation were Government College for Women (GCW) Parade, Government Degree College R S Pura, Degree College Akhnoor, Degree College Rajouri, GCW Udhampur, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Dogra Law College, Degree College Kathua and PG Departments.
