J&K govt to nurture Urdu language: Omar | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 21: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that government was actively endeavoring to nurture State’s official language Urdu while adding that measures were afoot to post Urdu teachers in the primary schools and propagate the language along with Hindi and English. “During my visits to various areas, people across the state sought posting of Urdu teachers and I have directed concerned to take urgent measures in this direction”, he said adding that teaching Urdu language at primary level would help in a big way in its development and universalization. Speaking after releasing a book of Urdu poetic collection “Warood” by Khalid Karar, here at a function, Omar said that works of poets and writers infuse enthusiasm in readers and encourage the propagation of languages. Chief Minister said his government would encourage talent in the field and take all measures at all levels in propagating urdu reading and writing in the State. Speaking on the occasion Vice-Chairman, Pahari Development Board, Mushtaq Bukhari threw light on poetic collection of Karar and said that Poonch and Rajouri have produced writers and poets of immense fame. In his welcome address, Mohammad Yusuf Taing narrated the role of Urdu in binding regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. In his thanking giving speech, Media Consultant to the Government, Farooq Nazki also highlighted the importance of Urdu in solidifying the ties between various sections of the society and the regions in the State. He said Urdu has always nurtured amity and cemented inter society and inter regional bonds. Present on the occasion were Advisors to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul and Devender Singh Rana, legislator, Mohammad Rashid Qureshi, Provincial President, National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta, various poets and writers and a large gathering of Urdu lovers.
