Dr. Ojesh regales K.C. Public at SaMaPa Aalap | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 21: 13th Day of ongoing SaMaPa Aalap Festival 2011 featured mesmerizing classical vocal recital by Dr. Ojesh Singh at K.C. Public School. 5th Annual SaMaPa Aalap is being presented by ‘Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts’ (SaMaPa) in collaboration with the ‘Jammu and Kashmir Tourism’. The concert was attended by a large number of students and staff of the School. The function started with the traditional lamp lighting by the Principal Dr. R.D. Thakur, Abhay Rustum Sopori, and the performing musicians. Chairman of K.C. Public School Sudershan Mahajan, was delighted to see the presentation and congratulated SaMaPa for its efforts. Eminent Santoor Maestro and Music Composer Abhay Rustum Sopori, who is credited for creating a new generation of music connoisseurs in the country especially the state of Jammu and Kashmir, said that cultural heritage of the J&K State in particular and the country in general is very rich and the latent has to be nurtured in a positive and responsible manner. Dr. Ojesh Pratap Singh commenced his recital by explaining the students the basics of music and development of each frequency from microtones to 12 notes of music. He made the students sing with him during the entire performance generating their interest in vocal music. Earlier, the programme began with Welcome address by Parth Agarwal and Mehak Jain, students of K.C. Public School. The organizing body headed by Tandeep Kaur, overall coordinator and Shobhna Sethi, activity incharge, along with Ritvik Mahajan, Suhas Dhar and Arush Gupta, students, greeted guests with bouquets.
