| Democracy not flourished properly in JK:Urmil | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 22: Democracy has not been given a chance to flourish properly in Jammu and Kashmir. The three tier democratic set up has not been let to grow here.
This was alleged by BJP Mahila Morcha J&K Prabhari and MLA from
Hamirpur Urmil Thakur while addressing a meeting of State Mahila
Morcha leaders here today.
Thakur said that delay in holding election to the Local Bodies in
Jammu and Kashmir has become hurdle in the decentralization of democratic powers and it is not a healthy development.
She said that in a democracy, awareness at the grass roots level is must but unfortunately non-conduct of elections of Panchayats and other bodies have not been held here as a result of which the majority of population is deprived of awareness and enjoyment of the benefits of democracy.
