PDP leader lashes out at coalition over backdoor appointments
1/22/2011 8:49:53 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri Jan 22 : Lambasting the state government backdoor appointments, Senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan said the coalition has thrown all norms and established procedures to the wind by conducting the recruitment clandestinely
Addressing a meeting of party workers at Thanamandi, Shahzad said that it was surprising that the state government started recruitment without any prior notice, information or advertisement which seems it was meant only for those recommended by the ruling party.
``This was in accordance with the tradition and character of the National Conference(NC), which has revived backdoor entries into goverbment that had been stopped over the past few years as a major reform, ‘’he said.
He said the youth face acute unemployment problems and the goverment was not providing equal opportunities to all the eligible candidates. He said that the National Conference (NC) had always used goverment jobs as a "commodity" which it sells either for money or party interests. He said that the goverment must ensure continuation of transparency and fairness in recruitment that had been introduced by the previous goverment.
He also said that the candidates of Rehbar-e-Tamiraat, Rehbar-e-Zarat, Physiotherapists, PHE Daily wagers, Home Guards, ITI Electricians, etc. have all come on roads to demand their rights but the apathetic government has terribly failed to give any kind of relief said Khan. Its been 60 days since the physiotherapists are sitting on strike but the government is doing nothing. Besides, there are a large number of other vocationally qualified people who have done their graduations and post graduations in tourism, forestry, paramedics and are yet to get jobs. Many of these youth have already exceeded their age limit to be eligible for new jobs. The only relief to these youth, he said, is to absorb and thus regularising them.
Criticizing the placement fair going on in Jammu, he said poor people including ITI trained , polytechnic diploma holders from far flung areas are being called only to make a mockery of them.
The present coalition government instead of furthering the already available employment programmes and schemes has added another scheme Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY).
Khan said that the goverment had failed in delivering a proper administration at political as well as developmental levels. He called upon party workers to launch a war against this regime because people have been suffering due to misdeeds of this government.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Zubair Shah, Maqsood Khan, Javid Khan, Mohd Sayeed, Nadeem Sheikh, Ch.Manzoor, Shabir Ahmed, Naushad, Jhangir Khan, Molana Ishaq, Ghani and others.
