Distribute ration as per fixed scales: Akhoon | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 22: Underlining the need for further improvement in public distribution system on ground, Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon has called upon the functionaries of CA&PD to redouble their efforts to achieve better results in supplying food grains to the people. He said that the department is directly linked with public and all necessary measures should be initiated to bring more transparency in the distribution system of essentials. The Minister was speaking at a high level meeting convened today to assess the stock and supply position of food grains being supplied in Jammu district. MLAs Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Ashok Khajuria, Jugal Kishore, Bharat Bushan, Gharu Ram, Sukhnandan, Bimla Luthra and Indu Pawar attended the meeting. Besides Commissioner Secretary CA&PD and Transport, Pardeep Gupta, Director CA&PD, Jammu, Parveez Ahmad Malik, Joint Director, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Supply Officers of the department besides representatives of gas agencies were also present in the meeting. Akhoon stressed on providing scaled ration of 35 kgs fixed per ration cared in the district and there should be no any complaint from any quarter about providing of less ration quota by the dealers. He said any dealer found making irregularities should be booked for immediate action by the government. He asked the gas agencies for strengthening the home delivery system to avoid day-to-day incontinence faced by the consumers. With regard to price rise of essentials, the Minister said that prices in the state are stable as compared to the other states. The meeting was informed that there is buffer stocking of the essentials in the godowns of the CA&PD to cater the requirements of the consumers and apprised that 36, 278 quintals of wheat / atta, 12, 152 quintals of rice and 3000 quintals of sugar are available in the stocks. The meeting was further informed 45, 000 gas cylinders of HP, 7490 of Bharat Petrolium and 34, 292 of Indian Oil are avialbe in the stocks besides against 4082 kl. of K. Oil, 2212 kl were supplied to the consumers of Jammu division upto January 21, 2011.
