| 4 militants among 6 killed in JK | | | Srinagar, November 9 Four militants and a woman are among six people killed during different militancy related incidents across Jammu & Kashmir State, while as a bullet was fired on class IX student at Kupwara. A contractor and a PHE official escaped a bid on their life, when bullets were fired on them. Army and sleuths of police, according to SSP Doda Manohar Singh, laid a siege around the house of Lashkar-e-Toiba Area Commander Shabir Ahmed alias Abu Baker on Wednesay night, when a meeting of local militants was in progress. The militant retaliated soon after security forces launched an operation. The encounter lasted late in the evening. The security forces, according to locals, fired mortar shells on the house in which militants were holed up and consequently house caught fire and was reduced to a rubble. The bodies of two militants Shabir Ahmed alias Abu Baker S/O Mohd Subhan Wani and Ashiq Hussain S/O Ab Quayoom Mir , both residents of Nanta Darman, were recovered from the debris of gutted house. The presence of one more militant in the house was claimed by SSP Doda who says that efforts are on to trace out his body. Army and police suffered no loss during the encounter. Meanwhile a militant of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit identified as Gul Nawaz Shah alias Abu Hamzah S/O Gh Mohd Shah R/O Jora Gandoh Handwara was killed during an encounter at Chowhanwali Ghat in Gandoh area of Doda district, but police said that militant was killed during group clashes. The army has claimed the recovery of 10 Kg RDX, one rifle, two grenades, 2 UBGLs and 125 rounds from Thathri Doda. Two militants barged into the house of a trooper of Ist JAK LI Mohd Amin on Wednesday night and killed him. His neighbour Fayaz Ahmed was also injured in the incident. The slain army personnel, according to police, was working with 50 RR. A group of unidentified persons fired a bullet on a class IX student Tariq Ahmed Wani S/O Mohd Maqbool and injured him critically. He was shifted to SMHS hospital immediately. A group of unidentified persons fired bullets on a contractor Ishtiyaq Ahmed Ganaie S/o Gh Mohd and a PHE official Gulzar Ahmed Rather S/O Ab Aziz , both residents of Woven, when they were traveling in a maruti car bearing no:JK01G/7465. However they escaped unhurt. The body of a 55 year old woman was recovered from Chek Badwani Qazigund. However identity of the woman could not be ascertained and police is investigating the matter. |
