Football: Vijay Club downs Churchill to enter QFs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 23: Vijay Club today sailed into the quarterfinals of the ongoing 2nd Sher-e-Kashmir Football Championship outplaying Churchill Brothers by a solitary goal in the pre-quarterfinals at Mini Stadium, Parade here. The all important goal came through Sahil Lehal in the 45th minute of the match. Earlier, the first half of the game remained barren with both sides failing in their attempts on the net. Now, Vijay Club shall be playing against outside the state team on January 27. In another match of the day, Young Heroes defeated equally good Sainik Colony Club by one goals to nil. The only goal of the match came through a penality kick awarded in favour of Young Heroes in the 50th minute. Mukesh Kumar was the man who availed the opportunity and successfully converted it into goal. Today’s matches were officiated by Sohan Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Saudagar Mattoo and Koushal as also Rajib Deb, Nazir Ahmed, Suresh Gupta and Harneel Singh.
FIXTURE: Young Star shall face Param FC at 12.30 pm, followed by the second match between J&K Police and Mussa Club at 2.30 pm tomorrow. ===
