| Set back to LeT, 3 comdrs killed in Doda encounter | | | Jammu, Nov, 09 Security forces gunned down at least three senior commanders of Lashkar-e-Toiba in a gunbattle in mountainous Doda district while an unidentified militants shot dead an army jawan at his private residence in border district of Rajouri, late last night. It was reliably learnt that acting on a tip off, police and security forces launched a joint operation in Tanta Draman area of Doda district, late Wednesday evening. The troops reportedly cordoned off a militants’ hideout and asked the hiding militants to surrender. However, the militants opened fire on the troops leading to an encounter, a senior police officer said. He added that the in the ensuing encounter, which lasted for more than three hours, all the three hiding militants were shot dead. The slain militants were later identified as Ashiq Hussain, Shabir Ahmed, both section commanders of LeT and its area commander Saifulla. Troops seized three AK assault rifles, one SLR, three magazines and three SLR magazines from the spot, the sources added. Killing of the three commanders in a single gunbattle was said to be a set back to the Lashkar-e-Toiba militants operating in the area. Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen killed an army solider and injured his uncle, at his residence in village Pangai Shadhra Sharief area of Rajouri district this morning. Sources revealed that some unidentified gunmen suspected to be the militants barged in house of an army soldier, Muhammad Amin son of Gulzar Hussian at his residence in village Pangai near Shadhra Sharif, shrine of famous Sufi Saint in Rajouri district in Jammu region during early hours today. The solider, who was said to have visited this house on leave, was shot from a close range leading to his on the spot death. Amin’s Uncle Shahid Hussian son of Kala, was seriously injured in the attack. According to reports Amin was posted at Domana army camp in Jammu and was on leave. The attack was carried at 04.00 hrs this, morning today. Soon after the incident, sources said, security forces launched a search operation in the area to pin down the militants involved in the attack. It has not yet been ascertained as to which group is behind the killing, sources added.
