Yasin Malik, associates go into hiding | JKLF determined to foil Eakta Yatra | | ET Report Jammu, Jan 23: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Malik Muhammad Yasin has gone into hiding along with his close associates to `successfully implement' JKLF's programme to counter Bhartaya Janata Party's (BJP) Eakta Yatra on January 26. Yasin has dared the youth wing of the BJP to hoist the Tricolor at Lal Chowk on January 26. The JKLKF has urged the people to assemble in Lal Chowk on the said day to show to the world as to whose flag flies high at the historic city centre in the summer capital. The JKLF programme has been supported by Mirwaiz led faction of the Hurriyat Conference and most of the separatist organizations. A statement issued by JKLF this evening urged appealed to the people to reach Lal Chowk on January 26. "We will respond to the BJP programme peacefully", the statement quoting Malik said. Yasin has also urged the people to refrain from indulging in violence. "The BJP has declared war on Kashmir. We will go ahead with our programme despite all odds to give a befitting reply to the activists of Yuva Morcha", he made clear. The central leadership of the BJP has also ruled out any change in the January 26 porogramme. The former Deputy Prime Minister, LK Advani has ridiculed Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh's statement on Eakta yatra. In his blog, Advani has said that the central government was scared of the separatists. "The separatists were allowed to hoist a Pakistani flag atop the Clock Tower on Eid-ul-Fitr last year but the government had problems with our Eakta Yatra which is expected to conclude on Republic Day at Srinagar with hoisting of the Tricolor." Meanwhile, in Srinagar, the police raided `suspected hide-outs' of the JKLF leaders at several places in the city. However, no prominent leader could be taken into custody. |
